Morris Micklewhite & the Tangerine Dress

* A Professional Theatre for Young Audiences Production

April 24-May 2, 2026

Location: Patio Playhouse Blackbox

201 East Grand, Suite 1C, Escondido

Morris Micklewhite and the Tangerine Dress is a joyful and imaginative story about creativity, courage, and being true to yourself.

Morris is a thoughtful, artistic child who loves painting, music, and exploring the world through his imagination. At school, he begins to encounter rigid ideas about who is allowed to express themselves in certain ways, leaving him feeling confused, hurt, and alone. As those pressures grow, Morris retreats into vibrant inner worlds filled with safari animals, outer space adventures, and dazzling dreams.

Through vivid visuals, music, movement, and fantasy, the story follows Morris as he learns to listen to his heart and reclaim his sense of joy and confidence. Supported by a loving parent and guided by his own imagination, Morris discovers that self-expression is something to celebrate, not hide. This Theatre for Young Audiences production invites children and families to reflect on empathy, bravery, and the power of creative self-expression.

Woman in red dress sings into a microphone, man in black shirt smiles in the background, by a wall with mural.

We are delighted to share that our 2026 Cabaret Series will be announced soon, continuing the tradition of exceptional, intimate musical experiences our audiences have come to love. In past years, we have featured an eclectic mix of performers—from Great American Songbook stylists and Latin jazz artists to Broadway vocalists, Hollywood favorites, and world-class musicians—bringing unforgettable evenings of music to our community.

After four years of producing monthly cabarets across various venues on the California Center for the Arts, Escondido campus, CCAE Theatricals proudly introduced audiences to a new cabaret experience at Bellamy’s Restaurant on Grand Avenue, our official 2025 restaurant sponsor. This elevated format combined remarkable talent with exquisite food and drinks, all set within Bellamy’s beautifully revamped outdoor patio—designed to create an intimate, under-the-stars atmosphere unlike any other.

Our 2026 Cabaret Series will continue that spirit, presenting a monthly series during the fair weather months!

More details about the 2026 season are just ahead, and we look forward to welcoming guests back for another year of exceptional artistry and memorable evenings.
