Creating Access to and Pathways for Careers in the Arts

The Dorris Staples Theatrical Conservatory is the center of Mosaic Theatricals’ workforce development work. Made possible by the generous support of the David T. & Dorris E. Staples Foundation, the Conservatory connects emerging artists and creative professionals with training, mentorship, paid experience, and opportunities to work alongside industry practitioners.

Explore Careers Across the Arts

Conservatory participants gain hands-on experience across the many disciplines that bring theatre to life, including:

Performance and directing
Production and technical theatre
Arts administration and marketing
Education and community engagement

Pathways to Purpose

Through our partnership with California State University San Marcos, the Conservatory currently provides seven paid internships for students pursuing careers in the arts.

Interns contribute meaningfully to the work of a professional performing arts organization while receiving individualized mentorship and career preparation.

Staged Reading Festival

Mosaic's Staged Reading Festival serves as a professional laboratory for developing new work.

Emerging artists collaborate with playwrights, directors, actors, and dramaturgs—gaining firsthand experience with the creative process from initial script selection through audience feedback.

From Learning to Professional Practice

The Conservatory creates a connected pathway from training to paid experience to professional practice—helping build a more diverse, prepared, and sustainable arts workforce.
