Our Three Pillars
Creative Youth Development

Creative Youth Development (CYD) is a practice that intentionally integrates the arts, humanities, or sciences with youth development principles
Camp ¡Exprésate! is the main program that serves our youth in Escondido through theatre camps focused on acting, singing, dancing, and creative design!
Theatrical Excellence

Theatrical Excellence is at the heart of everything we do. We produce professional, high-quality performances that celebrate the richness of the human experience, bringing stories to life that entertain, inspire, and connect our community.
Career Pathways
Mosaic Theatricals is committed to developing the next generation of theatre professionals through hands-on training, mentorship, and real-world experience.

Camp ¡Exprésate! is Mosaic Theatricals’ theatre-based youth enrichment camp designed to help young people build confidence, creativity, self-expression, and community through the arts.
*EUSD NOTE
What does EXPRÉSATE mean?
Exprésate means "express yourself." At Camp ¡Exprésate!, we hope campers learn ways to express themselves through our curriculum, including a well-rounded view of the performing arts: Acting, Singing, Dancing, and Artistic Design.

Our Impact:
With the dedication and efforts of our Teaching Artists, we serve 16 elementary schools in the EUSD, 1 middle school with the pilot Expressi-Tech program, and over 400 campers annually.
This program operates through the Escondido Union School District (EUSD), as spring, summer, and fall camps, and a seasonal after-school programs for a term of 9-10 weeks per semester.
Our curriculum and instruction are thoughtfully designed by experienced curriculum leads following Visual & Performing Arts (VAPA) Standards and CYD Principles. These principles include: Artistic Expression, Holistic Development, Collaboration & Community Building, and Youth Empowerment.

Our ultimate goal is to help young people tell their own stories, strengthen self-expression, and find inspiration through art.

At Mosaic Theatricals, we believe theatre has the power to illuminate the human experience, spark meaningful conversations, and bring communities together.
Through our commitment to Theatrical Excellence, we produce professional, high-quality artistic experiences that entertain, inspire, challenge, and connect audiences across North County and beyond.

Our work is guided by a mission to tell stories that matter. We seek productions that reflect diverse perspectives, foster empathy, celebrate creativity, and encourage audiences to see themselves in new ways. Whether through a moving play, a beloved musical, a powerful concert event, or the development of a new work, we strive to create artistic experiences that leave a lasting impact.

The Groove that Changed America: A Tribute to the "Motown Sound"
Beyond traditional plays and musicals, Mosaic Theatricals offers dynamic concert-style programming that celebrates the power of music and live performance. Through initiatives such as our Cabaret Series and Spotlight Series, audiences experience intimate evenings of storytelling through song, tribute concerts, and genre-spanning musical performances. Productions such as The Groove That Changed America: A Motown Tribute showcase the artistry, history, and cultural impact of music while creating unforgettable shared experiences for our audiences.
Theatrical Excellence also means investing in artists. We proudly provide opportunities for local performers, directors, designers, musicians, playwrights, and theatre-makers to share their talents and develop their craft. Through our Staged Reading Festival, original works, and community-centered programming, we champion new voices and create pathways for emerging artists to contribute to the cultural vitality of our region.
Every production, concert, and artistic event we present is rooted in our belief that the performing arts are essential to a thriving community. By supporting Theatrical Excellence, you help ensure that professional theatre remains vibrant, accessible, and transformative—creating opportunities for artists, enriching the lives of audiences, and strengthening the cultural fabric of North County for generations to come.
Career Pathways
At Mosaic Theatricals, we believe that the future of the performing arts depends on investing in the next generation of artists, leaders, and creative professionals. Through our Career Pathways pillar, we provide meaningful opportunities for emerging talent to gain hands-on experience, develop professional skills, and build sustainable careers in the arts.
Central to this work is the Dorris Staples Theatrical Conservatory, made possible through the generous support of the David T. & Dorris E. Staples Foundation. The conservatory provides aspiring theatre professionals with immersive training, mentorship, and real-world experience alongside industry practitioners. Participants gain valuable insight into the many career paths available within the arts, including performance, directing, production, technical theatre, arts administration, marketing, education, and community engagement.
Our commitment to workforce development extends beyond traditional training programs. Through partnerships with educational institutions and community organizations, we create pathways that connect learning with professional practice. One example is our current collaboration with California State University San Marcos' Pathways to Purpose program, through which Mosaic Theatricals is providing seven paid internships for students interested in pursuing careers in the arts. These internships offer hands-on experience, mentorship, and exposure to the day-to-day operations of a professional performing arts organization.
Career Pathways also includes opportunities for artists and theatre-makers to engage in the creative development process. Through our Staged Reading Festival, playwrights, directors, actors, and dramaturgs collaborate to bring new works to life in a supportive and professional environment. Participants gain invaluable experience developing original scripts, receiving audience feedback, refining their work, and exploring the journey from initial concept to fully realized production. The festival serves as both a launching pad for emerging artists and a laboratory for innovative storytelling.
By creating opportunities for education, mentorship, artistic development, and professional experience, Mosaic Theatricals is helping to cultivate a stronger, more diverse, and more sustainable arts workforce. Through Career Pathways, we are not only preparing individuals for careers in theatre—we are investing in the future of the performing arts and the communities they will serve.
